A little backstory…

A little backstory...

I grew up watching my father (who has been a rock hound all his life) - passionately work on his lapidary hobby and polish and set his favorite stones late into the night after his day job was done. I’ve also watched him toy around with the art of electroplating (mostly in gold) during the mid to late ‘80’s when he often combed the beautiful sandy beaches on the tropical island of Guam (where we resided at the time) for pieces of coral and shells as his jewelry specimens.

I naturally picked up this passion for stones and lapidary a young age as my Dad would show me his prized collection of raw or cut and polished gems (whenever he would bring these boxes out to show me, it felt like someone was opening a treasure box in front of me- beams of light flying out and all! I was captivated and in awe.) But electroforming and electroplating were still a bit of a mystery to me. The process looked very complicated and I found myself avoiding it.

But life happened and I pursued other interests and hobbies. And it would not be until my father passed away that I decided to pick up where he left off. Boxes upon boxes of unfinished rocks and gems - everything imaginable from raw and uncut to highly polished cabochons, faceted, and everything else you might find in between... So many beautiful gems were left to me. They were  - in some ways - an extension of my Dad’s spirit. He polished many of the gems in my collection with many more unpolished or in the middle of a process to be finished. He has either found the gems himself on rock hunting expeditions in the west or collected others from around the world on his travels and trades. It felt only natural to work with these treasures and ultimately hope to share them others who might feel equally drawn to them and enjoy them on their life path - just as I know he would have preferred.

Gems and crystals can invoke an energy in us that allows us to positively enhance our lives and course of being. They may help you feel protected, or lucky. Sometimes they are a token of a memory in our hearts. If at the very least - the right piece of gem/jewelry can bring joy to you from simply being there. Maybe even just for a moment of time.

Please join me in my on going project as I hope to open these time vaults and share pictures of stones as they become available. Thank you all for your love and support.
